I just had to post this tonight because it is so amazing! Kelly Holder, Lead Pastry Chef for U Designs did the groomscake tonight for Amanda and Chip's rehearsal dinner. Amanda and Chip are our first couple for Mission: Dream a Wedding. Chip is a DJ so she did a replica of his turn tables. It is a gift from his soon to be bride in just 16 hours! The detail is amazing and it is 100% edible.

In the country of Nicaragua there are many children who have been robbed of their innocence, prohibited from having fun, lost their curiosity, and only wonder if their slavery and abuse will ever end. These are the innocent children who have been sold, kidnapped, and forced into child labor and prostitution. These are the ones who are unable to fight for themselves. These are the innocents that The Refuge Project fights to rescue. U Designs supports The Refuge Project of Nicaragua both monitarily and in service. The above images are from a vintage peacock themed wedding at the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia, SC. This was such a fun project and we are so glad we finally get to post some pictures from it. There will be more to come in a later post! Our team did every aspect of this wedding from photography, design, florals, cake, catering, hair/makeup design, invitation and print designs, handmade jewelry and even the bridal attire.

The two pages above are from Melinda & Gus' wedding. They were married in November of this past year at Highland Lake Inn, NC.

Nicaragua Missions Project

We spent the last five days in Managua, Nicaragua photographing the extreme poverty and people in desperate need for hope. We attempted to capture this in stills, but one cannot truly see the needs of these people until emersed in their culture. ONE BY ONE MISSIONS & HOUSE OF HOPE IS ABOUT PROVIDING HOPE. THE HOPE OF ETERNITY, THE HOPE OF AN EDUCATION, THE HOPE OF A JOB, THE HOPE NEEDED FOR LIFE - ALL FOUNDED IN THE TRANSFORMING MESSAGE OF JESUS CHRIST. In Nicaragua, half the population consists of children or youth, and due to the overwhelming poverty many of them are in extreme need. One by One’s goals will be accomplished by building a network of children and youth centers, a Leadership Training Center, and educational systems.
HOUSE OF HOPE is an outreach and home to prostitutes in Managua. Many women have come to know Christ through House of Hope and a valiant group has made a stand to stop working the streets and attempt to support their families by various means, such as peddling candy and trinkets or making jewelry.

Various missons teams come to build more houses for the families at House of Hope. These houses are made out of styrofoam. It provides shelter for these women and a new beginning.

Small children beg on the streets everyday for their parents in lieu of going to school because they have no other options.

Homes like this are all over the city. Most of the city lives in extreme poverty.

Window washing is one of the most prominent methods for trying to provide for his family, especially for the handicapped.

One by One Missions Childrens' ministry leaders with a few of the kids at the Saturday service. Up to 300 children attend these services regularly. The only thing preventing more children from coming is lack of funds to rent more buses to get them there.

One of the boys at House of Hope now gets to attend school everyday because of people that support this ministry. U Designs proudly supports One By One Missions Nicaragua with our time and our money. Grand Opening Celebration

We opened our doors to our new downtown studio on Friday night, Oct. 30th. Located at 5B E. Coffee St.in Greenville our new studio hours will be Tuesday-Friday 10am to 7pm or by apt. We had about 200 people attend the event. It was a huge success and everything looked and tasted amazing. Here are just a few of the pictures. We will post more, so check back. Justin's Steakhouse catered the event and their food is amazing. Everyone should go check out their new restaurant on Pelham Rd. The pastries were, of course, provided by our amazing pastry chef, Kelly Holder. Our unique rentals were provided by Berbank and our awesome furniture was provided by CB events. Gregory's formal wear donated the tuxedos for our serving staff. All of our signs and photo printing were done by Design Image Studios, John Meeks. They did amazing job with the design work for our studio and gave us new and fresh ideas. Also, a special thanks to Talia Alley and Alice Finkelstein, our interior designers. They helped to bring the whole design together.

We did Ashley's Bridal Portrait back in March on a rainy day at Duncan Estate in Spartanburg. They just got married last weekend, so I can now post her bridal session. There are so many places to shoot inside that plantation home, that it didn't even matter that it was raining. We didn't have a need to go outside. Although the outside is equally as gorgeous. Memorial Weekend

Well, we had an awesome weekend! Our team did Ashley and Kyle's wedding on Saturday, Aimee and Tim's wedding on Sunday and then Jenn and Ken's yesterday. It was a very busy weekend and we are all exhausted, but we also had a blast. As soon as we get some pictures edited and/or a video trailer finished we will try to get a few posted. We will be editing like crazy this week. I can't wait to show off Janelle's awesome floral arrangements and Kelly's amazing cakes. Kelly did 3 cakes this weekend and 200 favors. She is such a rock star!!

Wendy & Johnny

Wendy & Johnny were married on May 2nd at the Ryan Nicholas Inn. Their wedding was gorgeous with pink, orange and red. Wendy has such fabulous taste. U Designs did the photography, cake, floral design and makeup for the bridal party. It was also a pleasure to work with InPro Video as Corey had booked another wedding that day! And, of course, the Ryan Nicholas Inn is a gorgeous place to get married! It was also the second weekend in a row that we had the privelege of working with Jumping Jukebox DJ's. So, fun was had by all! Congrats to Wendy & Johnny!

Charlie & Ryan

Charlie & Ryan's wedding was April 25th at Sleepy Hollow Inn in Clemson, SC. It was a gorgeous day and they are a gorgeous couple. We did their photography, flowers, cake, and hair/makeup! They used the Clemson bus for transporation and the Clemson Tiger came for a visit at the reception. Their reception was a blast with karoake and they have such wonderful friends and family. You could tell they are loved by everyone around them and their love for each other was amazing! Congratulations Ryan & Charlie! It was truly an honor to be a part of their day!

Becky & Johnny

I know we are not the best about keeping our blog updated. Our busy season sometimes makes it more difficult, but I am going to take a few minutes tonight and post a few pics from Johnny & Becky's Wedding. We had such a great time with them. They are a wonderful couple and had a princess themed wedding. It was gorgeous and they had so many intimate and special moments that it is difficult just picking a few pictures to post! It was the brides birthday on their wedding day, so her new hubby did a fireworks display at the end of the evening for her! The U Designs team did the cake, flowers, hair/makeup and photography for their wedding. We also recieved an absolutely wonderful letter from the mother of the bride. I will post the letter below the slideshow of images.

I wouldn't know where to begin to thank you for everything you did to help make Becky and Johnny's wedding a success. I was unsure of how I was going to plan a wedding from California without setting foot in South Carolina. The best decision I made was to contract with you and U Designs.

I can't even remember how many phone calls we made back and forth. It seems like a hundred, and many at the last minute. You and your team were flexible when we weren't sure if one of the bridesmaids would be able to attend until a week or two before the wedding. You were also flexible with the time constraints at Furman University, when everyone had to reorganize their delivery times.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel that without you, this wedding would not have been as wonderful and beautiful as it was. Your knowledge, experience and understanding, as well as, professionalism is, without a doubt, the best there is. We weren't expecting three photographers to capture the wedding. The memories of this wedding will remain with us because of your photography. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the moment we can view the photos online. Please thank your husband and other photographer for their hard work and professionalism as well. They went above and beyond their duties when they moved the columns from the wedding site inside to the reception area for us. And, what would a princess be without her frog? Becky was so excited about the frog "Prince" you gave her. It was a wonderful birthday/wedding present.

The flowers Janelle arranged for the tables were a compliment to the decor and were truly enjoyed by everyone. The bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres were beautiful and the colors were perfect. Becky was very happy with the input and advice from Janelle regarding the centerpieces and was confident the floral designs would be exceptional. Thank you, Janelle, for your kindness and talent.

What can we say about Kelly? She is amazing! To be able to make such a beautifully decorated and scrumptious cake on such short notice, is unbelievable. Becky told me she wasn't able to see the cake until she went over to cut it, and was ecstatic to see how perfect it was. She was so happy with her decision to change from the bakery to having Kelly make the cake. Kelly, thank you so very much.

Thank you, Amanda, for our hair and makeup. You made all of us feel and look beautiful. Also, thank you for your time on Friday at the hotel helping us decide on hair styles. You were such a trooper on Saturday when we had to frantically move rooms because of the water leak. You were right there with us and we really appreciate that.
